All house plans are protected under the Federal Copyright Act. House plans by
DesignTech Residential Planners, Inc. contain valuable, confidential,
proprietary trade secret information. No reproduction or other use of our plans
or any of it's content is permitted without consent of DesignTech Residential
Planners, Inc. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.
Designing house plans is like writing books, plays, movies or songs, which are all
protected under federal copyright laws. Copyright laws protect the intellectual
property of the creator, in this case, the designers.
We agree to grant you permission to use our design to construct a single home. Any
duplications are to be billed at stock plan cost (see house plan pricing). Any
resale of our designs to a third party, any reproduction of blue line prints
furnished by DesignTech or copying any ideas off of our website are strictly
prohibited without written consent of DesignTech Residential Planners, Inc. We
will gladly supply you with additional prints or portfolio collections for a
reasonable fee.
Making job changes to designs are expected, but do not change any copyright
restrictions. These are called "derivative works" and are protected
under the same laws as the original works. We do recommend that job changes be
reviewed by a qualified designer, contractor or expert in the construction
field before proceeding - for it may affect other changes that are not desired.
Just contact us and let us know what you would like to change and we will be
more than happy to assist you in determining if the change will work.
Penalties for violating a copyright could range from paying the cost of the plans to
statutory damages and any profits made on the home, which could reach
$100,000.00.
